Honda NSX 2012
The NSX Concept shown at the Detroit Auto Show this week is inspired by the roadster concept that has already been spied on the set of the Avengers superheo film, and Honda says it’s coming to market in 2015.
In true Honda form, power for this new concept is provided by a mid-mounted naturally-aspirated V6, but this time there is also Honda’s new electric super-handling all-wheel-drive system, driven by wheel-mounted electric motors.
Power figures haven’t been revealed, but if th V6 is the new engine announced late last year, we can expect at least 231kW - plus whatever boost the electric motors bring to the table.
Tucked into a lightweight body loaded with aluminium and carbon fibre, the hybrid powertrain should give the new NSX a 0-100km time in the low four-second range.
Ito, who led the development of the original NSX as an engineer at Honda, said that the new model will focus on achieving high performance “through engineering efficiency”.
